James G. Allen, Jr. is a proud ECC alumnus who graduated with high honors in 2022, earning both an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies. His relationship with ECC began as a returning adult student and deepened through his service as Student Trustee (2021-2022), where he gained valuable insight into college governance while representing student interests.
James’s commitment to ECC continues through his service on the Paralegal Advisory Committee since 2023 and his participation in the Presidential Search Committee in 2024. He also contributed to the ECC Foundation's Bright Futures Campaign Cabinet, helping exceed the $3 million fundraising goal to support student success initiatives.
In the community, James serves as Board President of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestras, an ECC In-Residence Ensemble, and as President of Open Door Health Center of Illinois, a regional healthcare organization serving over 5,000 patients annually. These leadership roles have strengthened his strategic planning, fiscal oversight, and organizational development expertise.
Professionally, James has worked as a Flight Attendant with United Airlines since 2006, when he was selected for the elite International Purser program. His background includes experience as a Paralegal and Office Manager, providing legal services to veterans and underserved populations.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration, James’s educational journey and firsthand experience as a non-traditional student drive his dedication to ensuring ECC remains accessible and responsive to the diverse needs of District 509 residents.
