Daniel Gidlund - Student Member

Daniel Gidlund is a highly motivated and passionate first-generation college student who started attending Elgin Community College in 2023. Both his parents were born and raised in Chicago, where his father was a carpenter, and his mother worked in human resources. Daniel has worked in the animal welfare industry since he got his first job at the age of 14. He worked in animal clinics and animal shelters until attending ECC. He was selected to be a Student Civic Leader in the college’s new Center for Civic Engagement as well as acquiring a job at the Office of First Year Programs and Student Life. His experiences with ECC positively affected him so much that he felt it necessary to give back to the college community by serving as Student Trustee. His work ethic is motivated by his love for his college community and a belief that he owes the college for all the opportunities and love it has given him.
